HB 740, Even as Amended, Will Increase Prescription Drug Costs for Montana Families and Taxpayers

Interim Study Proposal Offers Better for Everyone Path Forward

Despite the recent adoption of amendments, HB 740 remains a high-cost legislative proposal that will disrupt Montana’s prescription drug market and increase out-of-pocket costs for patients, employers, and local governments.

An analysis from the Pharmaceutical Care Management Association (PCMA) estimates HB 740 could increase prescription drug spending in Montana by over $900 million over 10 years, including $77 million in the first year alone.
